The Heritage Edwardian

The Brief

The homeowners loved their Edwardian home’s high ceilings and ornate details but struggled with a small, isolated, and dark kitchen. They desired a spacious, social open-plan kitchen that would serve as the central hub for family gatherings, whilst paying absolute respect to the home’s historic architecture.

The Solution

We initiated the project by safely removing a non-load-bearing brick partition wall, seamlessly connecting the kitchen with the dining room. To preserve the heritage character, we replicated the original plaster cornices and skirting profiles.

The cabinetry was custom-designed as a traditional Shaker style, painted in a beautiful, rich charcoal that contrasts beautifully against the light quartz benchtops. A large central island bench serves as both a culinary prep station and an informal dining bar. To hide modern clutter, we designed a walk-in butler’s pantry with open shelving, keeping the primary workspace clean and ready for entertainment.

The Handover

By coordinating all council permits and structural engineering in-house, we delivered this complex kitchen transformation in six weeks with zero budget blowouts. The final result is a breathtaking space that honors its heritage while delivering modern executive luxury.
